Mencap calling for training to healthcare professionals

Training in learning disabilities awareness to NHS trust could prevent 1200 avoidable deaths in England each year (YouGov).

A poll by Mencap with 506 healthcare professionals found that 23% of professionals had never had receive training on how to meet the health needs of people with learning disabilities.

Mencap is campaigning for learning disabilities awareness training to be mandatory in NHS trusts. This coincides with the launch of their 'Treat Me Well Campaign'
